Give Your Muscles the Edge

Yesterday was a great day for me. Together with a friend I hiked up to the top of 4 (!) Fourteeners here in Colorado. Mother Nature decided to make it possible that you can hike several Fourteeners in one day – the peaks are accessible from the same trail head. But make no mistake, this was not a walk in the park. This was hard work. It took us 5 Hours and 47 minutes to hike 7.25 miles and we ranged in altitude from 11,962 (trail head) to 14,286 (Mount Lincoln) – see my Endomondo Sports Tracker Summary here. We even got caught in a nasty thunderstorm on the way down from the last mountain top. The weather changed from partially cloudy to thunderstorm in about 20 minutes.

If you go to the gym, don’t do this!

Ah, what a great morning. I had slept very well and felt refreshed and ready for a good workout session at the gym. The legs felt good and strong and so I hopped on the treadmill and started walking and then after warming up I started to run. Mile #1 went by in no time. Going the Distance

Since the beginning of April I have been changing my workout routine a lot. My goal was/is to become a better runner. I was stuck in the six to seven mile range and that bothered me a lot. In the beginning of April I switched Gyms and I joined a local 24 Hour Fitness. When I signed up I was able to land a free 3 session package with a personal trainer. Now almost 2 months later my additional efforts are paying off. [Read more...]
