There has been a debate going on for several years now. This debate is on whether getting pregnant during a period is possible. Anytime you have unprotected sex it is possible to get pregnant. Although while your period is going on is unlikely, there is still a possibility you could face pregnancy.

While every woman’s cycle runs differently, there is a always a slim chance pregnancy could happen. Conception happens when a sperm and an egg meet. If the sperm is successful in breaking through the egg, pregnancy occurs.

For pregnancy to occur in the first place, there must be sperm inside the reproductive system of the female or in one of the fallopian tubes. When you are having your period the uterine lining and the released egg will be expelled from the body. When you ovulate and release an egg, this egg can survive for up to twenty four hours . If you have unprotected sex and the sperm is still present inside you, then there is a possibility you can become pregnant.

Some women have very short menstrual cycles. Most women on average have a twenty eight day cycle while others only have a twenty two day cycle. Having this shorter cycle could lead to your ovulation days happening right after your period. If you have unprotected sex during your period, and your cycles are shorter, then there is a possibility you could become pregnant.

Some women have breakthrough bleeding. This is spotting between your periods. When this happens some mistake this for an actual period. This usually happens during ovulation time which is when you are most fertile. Having unprotected sex during these times can possible lead to you becoming pregnant.

Although it is unlikely, it is possible for women to become pregnant during their period. The only way to ensure that you will not become pregnant is to use protection every time you have sex. Since each and every woman is different, there is no way of knowing when you will be safe from falling pregnant.
