Many hobby runners do not exercise properly without knowing. They go running several times a week and that is about it. Most hobby runners fail to improve their workout for many reason. Even though quite a few runners would like to run longer and further, when it comes to go the extra mile (literally) they fail. They just can’t because their bodies won’t let them. The legs are heavy and overall it is a drag to run just a little longer.
The answer for many of these issues is simple: runners need a strong core of their body to run longer. It is usually not the legs that hold a runner back, it is a weak core. A weak back and front of the body is the key to running longer distances. Why? Once a runner reaches a certain point during a run the body is slowly getting tired. The posture changes and with a bad posture the body cannot work as efficient anymore as before. As a side effect the entire working body does not function as efficient as it could be. You need to use more energy to do the same things you were doing just fine a few minutes ago.
A stronger core helps a runner to achieve longer runs. To get a strong core a runner needs to train the back muscles as well as add some abs workout exercises to the training routine. Doing abs workouts and back muscle training 3 times a week for a total of roughly 10 minutes is sufficient to build up a good core. If you want to take it a little further increase this part of your workout to 15 – 20 minutes.
During summer time runners are wearing less clothing due to warmer temperatures. Look around when you see a fellow runner and look at their body posture. You can probably see a difference in many cases. Runners who spend a little more time with cross training and training their body core are often easy to spot. Start getting into the correct mindset and you can increase your distance and the length of a run, too.
Want to actually develop some six pack abs? I can recommend the following 2 workout programs.
P90X
The Truth About Six Pack Abs
P90X is highly advertised probably more well known. It is a great program, but also a notch more expensive. If you want a more “average joe” six pack program try the $39.95 “Truth About Six Pack Abs” program. I personally prefer this approach as it promotes not just the workout part of the program, but also recommends specific lifestyle changes for an overall healthier life.
